Would you mind telling why?
Not at all. It started as an experiment and a means to find a way to stop using pirated software. My copy of MS Windows and a lot of the software I ran was illegal.
First, I tried a dual boot, where you run two operating systems on one hard drive. Three days into the experiment, my internet connection was up and running, and I realized Ubuntu (the distribution I'm using) comes equipped with almost everything I need.
Honestly, most Linux distributions aren't that difficult to use. Some people complain about the terminal commands being confusing, but how many times do you run a DOS terminal on your Win XP? Zero times for me.
Check it out Majlo, it's fun.

I have been using Mandriva since Mandrake 9.0. Now it's Mandriva 2007.
Mandrive 2007 was the very first distribution I looked at. I loved its GUI. It's packed with cool software too.

If I can add something, I have never had a failure of my Linux OS. I have never re-installed Linux and as far as I can tell, most Windows users do it quite regularly.

Another plus would be an insignificant number of viruses. If I'm not mistaken, I've read about a dozen, as opposed to thousands of malware attacting MS OS. I do, however, run a firewall to prevent inbound intrusion, but that's a different matter.
I must add something. There is also another myth about Linux - that you cannot run programs with extension *.exe. Well it is not true, it is the matter if having one programm called - wine. Then you can run whatever you want.
And if it is about office - there is no point in worrying - I use sucessfully documents created in Linux in MS Office.
And the last thing worth mentioning - you reboot your system only when installed programm demands that and in no other situation - there is nothing like "hanging" system.
BTW - I was using Mandrake, Debian, Red Hat and Fedora. I also know how operates Ubuntu

I save my documents in the rtf format so that Windows users can read them. Open Office, on the other hand, doesn't have problem reading MS Office formats.
